About this course

Entry Requirements: CLAIT, ECDL Foundation, prior knowledge of PhotoShop and/or other digital image manipulation software will be beneficial. In addition, a good degree of computer literacy is essential for this course coupled with a good knowledge of MS Windows (especially file management).

Web Page Design Level 2 Award

Course Aims:
The aims of this course is to enable candidates to develop:
A practical knowledge of web site design, from both the design and technical implementation perspectives.
An understanding of basic HTML
Skills in web authoring
Knowledge of design principles and their application to the web
An appreciation of the web site development process
Familiarisation with Macromedia Dreamweaver professional web design software.

Course Content:
Throughout this course students will study effective web site design and production techniques, inclusive of:
Accessing and navigating the Internet
Advanced use of search engines
Using FTP
Using basic HTML to format webpages
Embedding objects in webpages
Creating hyperlinks
Investigate contextual influences relating to websites
Use principles of colour, line, texture, shape and form as relevant, to inform the design of a website
Plan and manage the making of the website to the working design
Work safely and effectively
Make a well constructed website to a saleable standard
By the end of the course students will have developed relevant skills and knowledge to enable them to create and maintain small to medium sized web sites.
