Objectives
On successful completion of this course, attendees will be able to:

• describe the set-up of the Java2 platform, Enterprise Edition component model and how this model maps to the WebSphere Application Server infrastructure implementation
• install and maintain the WebSphere Application Server
• explain the interaction and implementation of the server-side Java application components
• set-up security for server-side applications
• evaluate and follow-up server availability and performance
• describe the WAS tools for the management, configuration and evaluation of enterprise applications.

Who Should Attend
The course is ideal for webmasters and system administrators who are going to install, configure and maintain Web-based applications on a WebSphere Application Server platform. This course is also suitable for developers who want to test thoroughly for a Websphere Application Server roll out. System Architects and developers will get to know the runtime context for the enterprise application that they build.
Prerequisites
Participants should be able to use a Web browser to set-up a web server and to execute the basic manipulations (e.g. to adapt configuration files) on a Network Operating System. (Windows and/or UNIX). Participants should also have a basic knowledge of J2EE and its components. Some general knowledge of the WebSphere environment is also an advantage.
