Wedding Floristry Course Floristry is an exciting and challenging business, and whether it’s a simple bouquet or a complete wedding package, you will be behind one of the most significant moments in people’s lives. It’s an honour that only a few professions share. Wedding floristry is an unusual and very rewarding professions insofar as it combines a diverse variety of skills and abilities. It offers a wide range of possibilities in terms of employment or self-employment, full time or part time, and requires intensive customer service as you work with clients to plan the flowers for their wedding event. As a florist, you have the opportunity to use your creativity in marketing, display and production, and if you enjoy crafts, you are highly likely to excel at floristry. You will need excellent organisational skills and a sharp sense of timing. There will be occasions when you will need to think fast and respond to changing circumstances so that you can improvise solutions using your knowledge and creativity. While there is a variety of basic flower arrangements, there are always new arrangements to learn. However, this course assumes that you already have a background knowledge of basic floristry techniques.

Unit 2: Storing and Maintenance, Floral Design

  • Explain the different methods of conditioning flowers and stems
  • Understand the elements of Floral Design
  • Outline the principles of Floral Design
  • Explain the role of foliage

Unit 3: Arrangements

The learning outcomes for this unit are:

  • Describe the different types of bouquets
  • Describe the different Ceremony Flowers
  • Outline the kind of displays that Reception Flowers can form
  • Explain the components of small arrangements

Unit 4: Consultations and Pricing

The learning outcomes for this unit are:

  • Understand the importance of consultations
  • Outline the budget and pricing relationship
  • Understand how to market your business
  • Explain how to adjust price for silk and natural flowers

Unit 5: Important Skills

The learning outcomes for this unit are:

  • Identify the most classic flowers in arrangements.
  • Identify the more unusual wedding flowers
  • Understand the importance of interpersonal skills when arranging a wedding

Unit 6: Post-Wedding Options

The learning outcomes for this unit are:

  • Outline how arrangements can be used post-wedding
  • Explain how to preserve the Bouquet
  • Understand when to use different fillers

Study Hours

This is only an approximate figure and is dependant upon how much time you can dedicate to your studies and how well you grasp the learning concepts in the course material. Furthermore, at the end of each lesson there is a question paper that needs to be completed and returned to your tutor. You should allow at least 1 - 2 hours of study to complete each question paper.
