Wedding Planner
A career in wedding planning can be extremely rewarding, fun and interesting. Every day is different, and to be successful you have to be adaptable, creative, responsible and self-motivated. What's more, you have the freedom to be your own boss and choose your own hours. The ICS Wedding Planner course will provide you with the right skills and knowledge required to succeed.
Course Overview
Gain an understanding of the event planning process including how to advise on different ceremony options and legalities involved. Learn to choose the right venue, arrange the catering, décor, entertainment, photographer, and manage the guest list! You'll learn techniques to help get your wedding planning business up and running, stay ahead of the competition and make it profitable.

Explore the wedding planning industry and consider the different services that a wedding planner offers. Discover how to set up a home office, maintain clients' files, organise your finances and price your services. Explore religious ceremonies, civil ceremonies and civil partnerships, and examine the different structures of these different types of wedding.
Research, Advertising and Catering
Discover how to research competitors in your area and how to establish your unique selling points. Examine the process of researching products, suppliers and venues. Explore public relations, advertising and branding. Examine food and drink catering in-depth.
Items and Services
Explore a wide variety of items and services that clients will or may require, from cakes and photographers to crèches and security. Discover how to effectively negotiate in order to get the best price for an item or service. Examine stationery, such as invitations and place cards, and gift lists.
Client Interaction and Traditional and Modern Weddings
Discover how to secure clients and how to interact with them professionally, and learn how to determine their needs. Gain a wide knowledge of both traditional and modern etiquette and fashions, so as to be able to tailor your services to clients' needs.
Hours of Study
6 months / 60 hours. This equates roughly to 2 and a half hours a week of study.
Assessment
Outline
You'll complete six assessments during your course. These assessments can be submitted to ICS online via the Student Community, or they can be posted to ICS. It is recommended that you submit your assessments online as you will receive your results more quickly this way.
Assessment Breakdown
Assessment 1: 5 scenario-based questions and 5 short answer questions
Assessment 2: 5 activities related to launching and advertising a wedding planning business
Assessment 3: 3 scenario-based questions
Assessment 4: 5 scenario-based questions and 9 short answer questions
Notes
Scenario-based questions test that you can apply the knowledge you have learnt from the course to imaginary scenarios. For example, you may be given details about a hypothetical couple and then be asked to recommend three local photographers that match their budget and tastes.
Short answer questions normally require you to write between a sentence and a paragraph.
