Course programme

All courses are run in our purpose built training centre. Each student has their own work bench and own set of tools to work with. Hubs, spokes and rims are provided for you to practice on for the course, you can then maintain your own wheels after you have mastered the skills.

Our wheel maintenance course gives you the opportunity to learn how to keep your wheels running smoothly and true . During the course you will learn some theory of wheel building as well as the skills and techniques involved in truing wheels, replacing spokes, replacing and servicing hubs and bearings.

Course Contents

We start with hub care, looking at all the major systems, shimano, campagnolo, mavic, hope. Other brands will be covered and the similarities of hub types and care will be shown.

Bearing changes and freehub changing, pawl and spring care will be taught.

Differences of spoking patterns will be discussed, radial spoking, 1,2 and 3 cross wheel designs, campag 3g patterns, shimano and mavic wheel designs.

Finally you will learn spoke replacement and wheel truing of different systems.
