WILLOW BASKET MAKING

Course description:
This workshop is an introduction to the tools and techniques of Willow Basket making. Individual tuition will be offered as you complete your own unique willow project, which may be any round basket: shopper, wastepaper, storage, tray or platter. Alternatively choose from a range of other interesting projects: fish, birds, screen or balls. There will be a variety of Somerset willows of different natural colours from which you can select.
This will be an opportunity to learn about willow, its cultivation, treatment and the different techniques of weaving. You will experience the pleasure of weaving shapes and containers from this amazing, flexible and adaptable natural material, taking home a woven item of which to be proud.

Materials/Items to Bring:
Clothes should be comfortable and practical. Sunglasses and a sunhat are
recommended in case the weather is fine as some may like to work out of doors.
