Objectives:
To enable staff to work safely at heights and use maintain, erect, inspect and use lightweight access towers/staging and ladders/steps.
Understand and use relevant P.P.E. when working at heights.
Content:
· Relevant Health and Safety at Work Act.
· Construction regulations (working places).
· P.A.S.M.A. recommendations.
· Safe working at height and safe systems of work.
· Access and egress.
· Hazards associated with working at heights, to include:
o Fall arrest equipment.
o Inspection and wearing of harnesses.
o Falling from un-protected edges.
· Recognition of components and their applications.
· Provision of bracing,ties,toe-boards and hand rails.
· Selection/Types/Inspection/Carrying/Storage/Erection and use of ladders.
· Suitable hard standing.
· Erection and dismantling procedures.
· The use of out-riggers, ties and sole plates.
· Safe techniques for repositioning erected access towers.
· Awareness of:
o Fire, hazardous materials, electricity, manual handing and weather.
