This NCFE nationally accredited distance learning qualification in the Principals of Working with Individuals with Learning Disabilities is designed to provide an understanding of the principles required to ensure that an individual with learning disabilities is provided high-quality person-centred care.

COURSE OVERVIEW
How is the course structured?The NCFE Level 2 Working with Individuals with Learning Disabilities course is divided into six units. These are :
Unit 1: Understand the context of supporting individuals with learning disabilities
Learners will contextualise the support provided to individuals with learning disabilities, including gaining an understanding of inclusion, advocacy and empowerment. Learners will also consider the causes, nature and characteristics of learning disability.
Unit 2: Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
This unit will help learners recognise signs of abuse and understand how to respond to a situation of alleged or suspected abuse. They will also look into ways to reduce the likelihood of abuse and how to report unsafe practices.
Unit 3: Introduction to personalisation in social care
Learners will consider the importance of adopting a personalised approach to care when supporting individuals with learning disabilities, as well as looking at the systems currently in place which encourage personalisation.
Unit 4: Principles of positive risk taking for individuals with disabilities
In this unit, learners will gain an understanding of the importance of using positive person-centred risk assessment to support individuals with decisions about risk taking. This unit also explores the ways in which support can be given to manage identified risks.
Unit 5: Introductory awareness of autistic spectrum conditions
This unit will focus on autistic spectrum condition (ASCs) and the different experiences of individuals living with an ASC. Learners will consider person-centred ways of supporting individuals who have an ASC, including the different systems which can be used to enable communication.
Unit 6: Principles of supporting individuals with a learning disability to access healthcare
Learners will gain a comprehensive understanding of the roles of different professionals working with individuals with learning disabilities in healthcare services. The unit also covers how healthcare plans and health checks underpin long-term health and well-being, and explores issues that individuals may face when accessing healthcare services.
Course Assessment
This course is marked through a process of continuous assessment guided by your tutor following NCFE guidelines. This means that your qualification will be awarded according to your performance on assessments rather than by taking an exam.
We send the full course out with the units listed above, you then read through the course in your own time and complete the assignments which you send to your tutor for marking. There is no word count for these assignments. However, one sentence answers will be rejected and you will have to re-submit it for marking.
Upon verification of the activities, exercises and assignments, a certificate of achievement will be awarded by NCFE, as confirmation that your written work has met all of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for the programme
Course Fees

The enrolment fee for the Level 2 Principles of Working with Individuals with Learning Disabilities home study course is £412.5, though for a limited time we are offering you the opportunity to pay only £330 which is a 20% discount if you enrol online and pay in full.
You can also opt for our Easy Payment Plan and enrol online today by paying a deposit of £82.5 and then 4 equal payments of £82.5 per month. The first instalment is paid about a month after you receive your course.
A registration fee of £52.00 is due within four weeks of enrolment if you wish to receive an NCFE certificate on successful completion of your course.
Please note that certificates are issued 3 times per year.
