Our provision in World Religions is one which equips students with a thorough appreciation of the variety of the major religions throughout the world. Through your studies you will analyse and contextualise the theology behind key religions to appreciate their history and their relevance to the social and political landscape. We have particular strengths in Islam, Buddhism and Judaism and are able to offer opportunities also in Hindusim and Sikhism. All of our teaching is research-informed and we operate within the supportive environment of the wider department, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the unique ecumenical foundation of Liverpool Hope University.
A particular feature of our provision is that you will be taught by highly-qualified academics, all of whom have a PhD in the area, who are both active and published researchers and committed teachers. What this means is that your studies will be informed and enriched by the strong research focus in the Department and also by the best pedagogical practice. We work hard to provide top-quality educational opportunities for all our students and the Department has recently invested heavily in new staff and learning resources; combined library holdings in Theology and Religion are now in excess of 100,000 volumes.
