Course programme

This workshop takes small groups of non-native English speakers through a practical, intensive day's training on how to improve the way they write. At thte end of the session they will have easy to follow guidelines on how to approach written tasks.

- Some of the common errors made when translating from a mother tongue to written English

- How to spot these errors: rules for avoiding them

- Common grammar-speak - and what it means for you

- Punctuation - how and when to use it

- Sorting out tenses

- Using adjectives and adverbs

- The dangers of cliches and puns

- Starting sentences with 'and' or 'but'

- The dangers of relying on spelling and grammar checkers

- Each delegate will have a one-to-one session with the tutor to examine and correct the common errors in their writing
