The zoologist is a professional in the biological field who works in the field of the study of animals, that is the one who studies and applies zoology in the various aspects of the animal world, from behavior and habits (ethology), up to genetics and physiology, passing through the life processes and diseases of animals. The zoologist also takes care of censoring and classifying the animals present in certain affected areas (for example in National Parks). He carries out his work in contact with animals, in the laboratory, in the natural habitat or in parks, reserves, aquariums and zoos. Usually, the work of the zoologist specializes in the study of a particular type of animal; among the most common categories, for example, we find: ornithology (study of birds), entomology (study of insects), ichthyology (study of fish), herpetology (study of reptiles and amphibians) and teriology (study of mammals).
