What will I do on this course?

A Level Drama and Theatre Studies is designed to give you a
comprehensive understanding of drama and theatre through a combination of your own work and the exploration and study of the work of others.

This course is split into two main areas:

Your own work:
· AS â€" devised drama for performance
· A2 â€" production of a scripted play for performance.
The work of others:
· Practical exploration and study of a range of texts representing different periods and styles
· Practical exploration and study of leading theatre practitioners
· Analysis and review of live theatre.

You will be expected to work in a team, be committed to rehearsals,
and stage productions. You will also be expected to attend theatre visits with the group throughout the course.

How will I be assessed?
Coursework makes up 40% of your total mark for AS and A2 and is based on:
AS â€" devised performance and a written portfolio
A2 â€" production of a play and a written portfolio.

The examination in both years will consist of questions on texts,
practitioners that you have studied and on live theatre that you have seen.
