Course Content: Throughout the AS year, you will cover two Core topics - Population change and rivers, floods and management. Alongside you will study one of two optional topics - Coastal Environments or Health Issues. There is also a geographical skills unit which involves the use of mapping, graphical and statistical techniques. There is compulsory, residential field work.
Throughout the A2 year, you will study three topics:
· Tectonic activity and associated hazards
· Weather climate and associated hazards
· Globalisation and development
There is also an issue evaluation exercise based on a contemporary issue.

Course Format: You will learn via lectures, individual research, group and pair work, presentations and practical tasks, and your progress will be assessed via regular assignments.
The AS exam comprises two examination papers at the end of the course. Likewise the A2 course has two examination papers.
Progression: Successful completion of AS (minimum grade D) will allow students to continue onto A2.
