This Advanced Apprenticeship focuses on the technical aspects of engineering manufacture, to enable the potential apprentice to become a sheet metal worker, plater/fabricator, welder. It allows employers to train both new and incumbent staff in a professional engineering environment, to a level that supports the needs of their business.

Course programme

The Apprentice framework includes the following qualifications: Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma in Fabrication and Welding Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Technology Level 2 Functional Skill English Level 2 Functional Skill maths Level 2 Functional Skill ICT Mandatory Units Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements Using and interpreting engineering data and documentation Working efficiently and effectively in engineering Reinstating the work area on completion of activities Entry Guidelines Job Roles can include sheet metal worker, plater fabricator, welder. Apprentices must be in paid employment of at least 30 hours per week. Apprenticeships where the Apprentice is working and studying for less than 30 hours per week are by exception only. In any circumstances the Apprentice must not work for less than 16 hours per week. The Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering Manufacture framework is suitable for potential Apprentices who have five GCSEs grade C or above including Maths, English, and a Science. You will also have completed an Intermediate Apprenticeship at Level 2 in the relevant engineering/ manufacturing occupational discipline. Additional Information Apprenticeships are designed for individuals who are in paid employment within the sector and would like to achieve qualifications which recognise the skills they gain in the workplace. An Advanced Level Apprenticeship will take a minimum of 12 months and a maximum of 24 months. If you have already found a job you may be able to convert it into an Apprenticeship.
