The financial services sector in Scotland manages over £800 billion in funds and generates around £7 billion for the Scottish economy. Our programme has been built with industry input to ensure you have the right skills to succeed in the fast-moving financial services sector, which in Scotland alone employs almost 100,000 people directly.



In Scotland, our degree is a unique combination of the three elements, finance, investment and risk. We cover everything from personal finance to pension funds, stock markets, corporate finance and investment and risk management in financial services. You also have the opportunity to specialise depending on your interests.



Our programme has a strong track record of producing in demand graduates and has been recognised by Scottish Financial Enterprise for its innovation. Having recruited our graduates in the past, employers often approach us with graduate opportunities and vacancies which are not widely advertised, giving our graduates the opportunity to apply for posts with a smaller field of competitors.

Our BA(Hons) Finance, Investment and Risk programme is accredited by the CII, the world’s largest professional body for insurance, risk and financial services. This programme offers the potential for exemptions for graduates from other professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI) and the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland.Additionally, Glasgow School for Business and Society has been named a Centre of Excellence by the UK’s Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
