This course is ideal for those who wish to understand fit and construct garments which are tailored to perfection. No previous experience is necessary.
Course aims To introduce the basic requirements for good fitting developments, made from a simple bodice block.
Course summary Assess shape and typical fit issues Draft , block, pattern and toile Style choice, pattern adaptation and grading Technical skill development and communication Introduction to knit – T-shirt
Objectives By the end of the course you will be able to: Use measurement and judgement in pattern development Understand commercial requirements in design and production Resolve fit issues successfully. Aimed at This course is suitable for beginners, or those who would like to understand and resolve common fit issues working in the retail/design industry. Course delivery This is a highly practical course and is delivered part-time at De Montfort University in purpose built studios, in two two-hour sessions per week on a Wednesday and Thursday.
