About this course
You must be hard-working, willing to learn and have a strong interest in sport. You must have some C and D grades at GCSE. If you have not already achieved Grade C in Maths and English you will be required to re-take them.

This intermediate course is an exciting route to vocational skills and academic qualifications. It is a one year course and the equivalent of two GCSE grades A* to C.

What will I study on this course?
There are three units in the course:
The Body in Sport students learn the structures and functions of the major body systems and investigate how they respond to exercise.
Health, Safety and Injury in Sport students examine the methods used to maintain health and safety standards in sport and learn the signs and symptoms of major sports injuries.
Practical Sport students participate in two individual sports, analysing their performances and setting future targets and training methods.
How is this course assessed?
100% coursework, so you must enjoy written work. Assignments include demonstrating leadership, making presentations, role play and written reports.
What kind of student will do well on this course?
This course is designed for individuals with a genuine interest in sport and good sporting general knowledge. Successful students will be highly motivated and able to consistently meet coursework deadlines.
