I am a qualified Canine First Responder Instructor number 0010. I have been an instructor since 2009. I have held many Canine First Aid one day work shops. I am also a qualified dog trainer and a member of the Association of Pet dog Trainers UK 00822. I hold training classes and give one to one lessons. I also have qualifications to help with canine behaviour problems. I hold certificates for canine nutrition and hygiene.

Course programme

The course covers CPR, choking, broken bones, bleeding wounds, illness etc. How to do a full body check to find out where First Aid is needed, to know whether there is a pulse or if the dog is breathing and how to help in these emergency situations.. It is stressed throughout that this is for First Aid and not to replace the care of a veterinarian. The student is taught what to do in an emergency before the vet arrives or before the dog is taken to the vet. and it never takes the place of a visit to the vet.
There will be practise on a canine mannequin for CPR and other mannekins for bandaging and splinting etc.
There is a student manual which needs to be studied along with some test papers.
A video will also be shown to demonstrate the many different scenarios that could occur.
