About this course
There are no formal entry requirements for the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools but applicants must be working in a classroom environment and have a good standard of written English and numeracy. All students will be asked to sit an assessment test and will be offered an interview.

Certificate in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools, Level 2 (NVQ)(2010/2011)
Duration :1 afternoon per week (Tuesday) 12.30 - 3.30 p.m. at the Barking Lifelong Learning Centre, 25 weeks.
Who the Course is For:
This programme is designed for students who are working in a school classroom environment, with young people aged between 5 and 16 years who attend compulsory education. It is for people already working in schools, under supervision supporting teaching and learning.
Assessment:
A portfolio of practical observations, written statements and other relevant evidence will be submitted at the end of the programme. You will be assigned an assessor and they will visit you in your setting to observe you.
Course Leads To:
Students may be able to progress onto a Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools.

Optional units will be discussed at the start of the programme with your course tutor to ensure that they reflect your employment skills.
Study will take the form of classroom based activities such as practical activities, group discussion, set learning tasks, and activities that support the reflection of your job role.
The assessor you are assigned will visit you in your workplace at an agreed time and observe your work in relation to the units listed above.
You will also be asked to carry out independent research to improve your knowledge of the topic.
