What is the NVQ Children's Care, Learning & Development Level 2 course?
This NVQ Level 2 qualification is a nationally recognised qualification that the Government recommends for all those working under supervision in a child caring role.

It is designed to recognise the role you have in your workplace and to give you credit for the activities you undertake there.

Please note that you will be required to complete a First Aid Certificate details of which can be obtained from your tutor.

Teaching and Learning
The first session of the course will include Level 2 and Level 3 students and will take the form of individual interviews to ascertain the appropriate level of award for you to study. You will then be registered and allocated a place on the sessions that are at the appropriate level for you.

You will receive a City and Guilds assessment pack during the course at College and there will be sessions to help you build your portfolio. These taught sessions at College will give you additional knowledge and skills to perform your role more effectively. You will also receive assessment visits at your place of work by you allocated assessor.

Assessment details
You will be given a City and Guilds assessment pack and you will be required to produce a portfolio which will be internally and externally verified.

Progression
NVQ Children's Care, Learning and Development Level 3 once you are working as a supervisor, deputy or in an equivalent role.

Notes

NB There will be no class on 23 February, 8 June and 4 March (at Alton venue 7.00 - 9.00 pm) 2009

This is a Learning & Skills Council (LSC) funded course and you may be exempt from the tuition fee, however you would be required to pay the registration fee at the time of application. Tuition fees for overseas students may vary from those quoted.

If you do not already have a full level 2 qualification (ie 5 GSCEs at A* - C, an NVQ Level 2 or an equivalent qualification) you may qualify for free tuition and registration through Train to Gain.
