When health care workers effectively communicate with those they care for, it helps patients, clients, and residents feel less isolated and improves their sense of wellbeing. When they understand how the communication process works and how to effectively send and receive messages, health care workers are better able to meet the needs of those they care for. This course will teach current and future Direct Support Professionals basic principles on how people communicate with each other, and provides examples of effective communications among heath care workers as well as between care providers and patients, clients, and residents.
