Defibrillation - AED Initial

Cardiac Arrest is the biggest killer in the UK. Over 150,000 die as a result. The majority could have been saved if a defibrillator was made available.

Automatic External Defibrillators (AED's) are now becoming more common throughout a range of workplaces.

Although at present there is no legislation governing Defibrillators, training is essential.

Course Content:

  • Recap the primary assessment (DRsABC).
  • Recap the secondary assessment:
  • How to make a diagnosis.
  • Top to toe survey.
  • Safe airway position.
  • Action necessary for vomit.
  • Heart attacks and cardiac arrest.
  • Chain of survival.
  • Defibrillation:
  • Introduction to the AED and its functions.
  • AED practical scenarios.
  • Handover to the emergency services.
  • Safety rules for the AED.
  • Control of vomit.
  • Final Assessment.
