Defibrillation - AED Initial
Cardiac Arrest is the biggest killer in the UK. Over 150,000 die as a result. The majority could have been saved if a defibrillator was made available.
Automatic External Defibrillators (AED's) are now becoming more common throughout a range of workplaces.
Although at present there is no legislation governing Defibrillators, training is essential.
Course Content:
- Recap the primary assessment (DRsABC).
- Recap the secondary assessment:
- How to make a diagnosis.
- Top to toe survey.
- Safe airway position.
- Action necessary for vomit.
- Heart attacks and cardiac arrest.
- Chain of survival.
- Defibrillation:
- Introduction to the AED and its functions.
- AED practical scenarios.
- Handover to the emergency services.
- Safety rules for the AED.
- Control of vomit.
- Final Assessment.
