You will need 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) grades A-C are needed togain entry to this course. A grade C in English is preferable butnot essential.

Course programme
This course is suitable for those with little previous
experience but who have taken part in school plays, youth theatre
work, musical or dance shows. Areas of study include text in
performance, exploration of drama and theatre, contemporary
theatre, classical theatre, physical theatre, voice, movement and
acting.
What will I study?
This course covers theory and practical studies, with students
involved in a range of workshops and production projects. The
course explores plays, theatre practitioners and analyses live
performances. Students take the additional qualification in AS
Level Drama and Theatre Studies and study a range of core and
optional units including voice, movement and acting technique, as
well as an exploration of the Drama and Theatre unit. All students
will perform in an end of term performance.
What can I do next?
This can lead to further education at University or drama
school. Lewisham College has an excellent reputation in courses at
this level and our students have progressed to higher education,
HNC/HND or degree. Former students are currently studying at the
Central School of Speech and Drama, ALRA, Goldsmiths College of
London University and Rose Bruford. This can lead to employment in
arts administration, teaching in the post-16 sector, theatre making
or TIE (Theatre-In-Education) performance.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is includes assignments, class work, group work,
phase tests, oral presentations, projects and formal examinations.
Students also have regular meetings with a personal tutor to
discuss progress and to help plan studies. Additional support and
guidance is also available from the guidance team or our Study
Buddies.
What will it cost?
If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances,
you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out
when you apply.
