Course programme

This NVQ is for Goods Vehicle drivers who are able to show the minimum level of occupational competence required for a goods vehicle driver. This competence is more that that required by the relevant statutory driving test, as it includes competences in pre-driving checks (including the use of tachographs) and monitoring the loading of goods.Driving skills need to be shown whilst driving a goods' vehicle that is ladden with the candidates typical load. Candidates are required to drive safely and with acceptable wear and tear on the vehicle.Achievement of this NVQ provides the opportunity for individuals to demonstrate that they work consistently to a national standard recognised by their industry.To achieve a full Level 2 NVQ in Driving Goods Vehicles the learner must complete the 7 mandatory units- Monitoring the loading of the vehicle by others- Completing pre-driving preparations- Maintaining the safety and the security of the load, self and property- Maintaining awareness of driving conditions- Operating the vehicle systems- Driving the vehicle on public roads- Driving the vehicle in restricted spaces

Assessment
Assessment of all NVQs is through submission of a portfolio of evidence and professional discussion, to demonstrate that the requirements are met at the relevant standard
