This 1 day course is designed to provide delegates with an outline of the contents of the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmosphere Regulations 2002 ("DSEAR") and to provide advice on the actions required to ensure compliance.

At the end of the course the delegates should be able to:

  • State the requirements of DSEAR;
  • Explain DSEAR connection with ATEX 137 and CAD Directives;
  • State the definitions of flammable atmosphere zones as defined in the Regulations;
  • State the requirements to identify flammable atmosphere zones;
  • Identify flammable atmosphere zones for the storage of highly flammable liquids and liquid petroleum gas in line with HSE guidance;
  • Identify other flammable atmosphere zones with regard to dusts and vapours; and
  • Identify suitable electrical equipment for use in flammable atmosphere zones as required by the Equipment and Protective Systems intended for use in Potentially Explosive Atmosphere Regulations 1996 (ATEX95)
