For learners who have recently been in education, the profile is likely to be a BTEC First Diploma in Construction or 4 GCSEs at grade C or above. Mature learners may present a more varied profile of achievement that is likely to include experience of paid and/or unpaid employment. You will undertake a formal interview and college devised initial assessment in literacy and numeracy.

What will I study?
During Year 1 all students will study: Health, Safety & Welfare; Construction & the Environment; Construction Technology & Design; Construction Science & Materials; Construction Mathematics and Surveying Processes. During Year 2, Civil Engineering students will study: Structural Mechanics, Civil Engineering Construction, Highway Design & Maintenance and Graphical Detailing with Auto CAD. Construction Students will study: Building Technology, Building Surveying, Environmental Science, Organisation & Planning and Graphical Detailing with Auto CAD. For the Welsh Baccalaureate you will explore a wide range of areas including how Wales ?fits in? with Europe and the rest of the world, the health of the nation and how to be enterprising. You will also have the opportunity to study Key Skills at an appropriate level.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through a programme of both practical and theory based assignments.
Career Opportunities & Progression
After successful completion of this course you could progress to a Higher National Diploma/Certificate in Construction/Civil Engineering or seek employment as a Technician in the Construction Industry.
