Course Description
This course provides skills for, and understanding of, the Fashion Industry, through a mixture of
workshops, lectures, project-based practical assignments and academic essays.Students are able to enjoy a lively and flexible working environment linking specialist workshops at the Design Centre in Redditch with the newly constructed Arts Department located at the Bromsgrove campus.
Students are able to interact with other HND media to develop a wide range of complementary skills
and they are also able to make use of the Artrix theatre complex, also based at the Bromsgrove campus, where they can host exhibitions and fashion shows.
The college exhibits at both the Clothes Show Live at the NEC Birmingham and also at various shows
around the country.
How is the Qualification Achieved ?
This two year course promotes professional development in conjunction with close industry links.
The full award is comprised of 10 Core Units including; Professional, Historical & Critical Study
and 6 specialisms that include; Pattern Cutting & Construction, Realising a Fashion Collection and Textiles
Development.
On Successful Completion of this Course
A key progression path for BTEC Higher National Certificate and Diploma learners is to the second
or final year of a degree or honours degree programme. Students skills are developed so that they
are prepared to directly enter a career in the Fashion or textiles industry. Alternatively, successful
candidates can enter employment or undertake further more specialist study.
