Course programme
A student who wishes to study full-time to progress to university courses having recently achieved a range of GCSE qualifications.
What qualifications or experience do I need ?GCSE grades A* - C in at least 6 academic subjects in one sitting. You must have at least a Grade B in History or a suitable subject such as English Language or Literature.
What will I study ?History Paper 1, Option D (30% overall A Level, 60% of AS Level) Britain, c1785 - c1870: Democracy, Protest and Reform. History Paper 2, Option D.2 (20% of overall A Level, 40% of AS Level) The Unification of Germany, c1840-1870
How will I be assessed ?Assessment will be through two examinations.
What qualifications could I achieve ?This is now a linear course, so you will gain an AS qualification at the end of the first year, but this will not count towards the full A Level, for which you must sit two further exams based on what you have studied in the AS year, in addition to the second year exam and coursework.
How do I join the course ?You must complete a full-time application form and make an appointment for an interview with a tutor. References will be required from your previous educational establishment.
Will I need an interview ?Yes, before you can enrol.
