The Equine Management Technical Certificate Level 3 is for learners, who wish to follow a career within the equine industry,
either hands-on with horses or within the wider allied equine service or business sector.
This qualification gives you the opportunity to learn about and build on the essentials of working with horses, such as planning and carrying out stable yard operations, horse health care, feeding and nutrition and fitting and evaluating tack and equipment. You will develop further practical skills such as working and exercising horses from the ground, horse presentation skills (grooming, clipping, trimming and plaiting) and you will also learn about horse biology. You will also gain the skills to be able to undertake event management and you gain knowledge and understanding about the principles of equitation.

Course programme

Entry Requirements

You will need minimum 4 GCSEs at grade 9 - 4 including a grade 4 or above in English / or a merit grade in Equine Care level 2; a keen interest in the care of horses is essential.

Delivery and Assessment

You will be assessed through practical assessments, assignments, case studies, presentations, on-line exams as well as a final end of course exam and synoptic assignment.

Progression

After successful completion of the year one units of study (certificate qualification) students will progress to the second year (Technical Extended Diploma); this combined two year course is designed to give you the practical skills and knowledge needed for a wide variety of jobs in equine management and related industries or for higher level study at university.
