Our MA Human Resource Management delivered on a part time block basis, enables you to study over a number of weekends while still doing your job and having time for family life. Constructed in a block workshop format, this intensive course provides face to face tutor led sessions and group interaction with your peers to help you draw on your practitioner expertise to contribute to the topics under discussion. We also provide online supported learning, guided study and activities which enable you to prepare for sessions in advance and follow up on your workshops.

Course programme

First year modules taught over eight weekend blocks, Saturday and Sunday 9:30 16:30

Strategic Human Resource Management You will critically evaluate how internal and external factors impact an organisation and its human resources and strategies. You'll also explore key concepts in organisational behaviour and characteristics, and evaluate the HR approaches of effective managers and leaders.

Total Reward You will explore the concept and practice of Total Reward a strategy that organisations adopt to motivate staff through financial and non financial means and achieve higher performance.

Second year modules taught over eight weekend blocks, Saturday and Sunday 9:30 16:30

Research and Professional Practice in HRM – with applied dissertation You'll be introduced to advanced research and essential professional skills that will consolidate and apply your learning through a dissertation project based on a relevant HR issue in your workplace.

Resourcing and Management Development You will develop a full understanding of the strategic and operational aspects of the recruitment, selection, retention and development of employees with a focus on managers.

Individual Learning and Development You will learn all the skills necessary to design and implement highly effective personal and performance development interventions, including how to introduce coaching programmes to your organisation.
