This video provides an introduction to the issues surrounding infection control and highlights the kinds of working practices essential to preventing the spread of infection in the care environment. It covers the requirements of the Skills for Care induction standards and the key pieces of legislation relating to infection control. The video focuses on the following subjects: Infection control policies and procedures; RIDDOR; COSHH; the handling and storage of specimens; effective hygiene; protective clothing; the storage, preparation and serving of food; clinical waste; spillages; soiled laundry; and common infections.
