Aligned to an NVQ Level 1 standard of performance, the course is a blend of theoretical instruction and practical demonstration sessions, to provide a good understanding of the injection moulding process and associated working practices. Suitable for: The course has been designed specifically to suit the needs of recently appointed injection moulding Machine Operators to ensure they do not endanger themselves, their colleagues or cause damage to any manufacturing equipment.

Course Content

This course is designed to provide candidates who have no prior knowledge or understanding of the injection moulding process with firm foundations on which to progress their career.

Objectives of the course

On completion of the course the delegates will be able to:

  • List major UK legislation and polices required for effective Health & Safety
  • Recognise a range of common safety signs and state their meaning
  • List items of personal safety equipment and protective clothing
  • Understand the importance of effective quality procedures and the impact of their role on quality
  • Realise why keeping quality data and performance records is important to companies
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the injection moulding process and the equipment used
  • Detail appropriate actions and documentation requirements to prepare the work area for start up
  • Identify a range of common moulding faults and describe possible contributory factors
  • Describe actions to take in an emergency situation
  • State how finished product should be packed and stored to meet customer requirements
  • Individual candidate knowledge levels are assessed at the end of the course attendance, after which a management report is provided to help identify any further training requirements.

Qualification

Material covered has been aligned to the content of an NVQ at Level 1 and can be used as underpinning knowledge towards achieving the award, if so desired.
