This course is suitable for applicants between the ages of 16-18 years old who would like to do their first course in the field of Health and/or Social care with Adults or Children and Young People. It is designed to stimulate interest and encourage the learner's understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to decide whether a career in the sector is right for them.

Course programme
There are no formal requirements for entry onto this course.
A clear enhanced DBS check will be required and a minimum of one week's work experience.
You will study Human Growth and Development, Healthy Eating and Lifestyles. The course will also cover Service Provision and Roles, Principles and Values, Safeguarding and Communication, Equality and Inclusion, Health and Safety. You will be assessed in a variety of different ways such as posters, leaflets and practicals. You will also study functional skills/GCSEs in English and Mathematics.
This qualification prepares you for progression onto a level 2 course, dependant on credits obtained, and then enables you to move into employment.
