Course structureThe course is designed to equip you with the basic skills necessary for you to continue developing the craft of leatherwork. It will be hands on approach with advice and guidance throughout using a variety of teaching methods including demonstration, instructions, one-to-one tutorial guidance, group discussions and critiques. You will be guided through the techniques used in making simple project, one being a small leather pouch that you will be able to take away
Students will learn:
- about different types of leathers and what uses they can be put to
- about the basic hand tools used in leatherwork and what jobs they are used for
- to hand stitch and machine sew leather
- to personalize or pattern leather by stamping
- simple techniques used in leatherwork
- to mould leather
- to colour leather
