About the course:
The BTEC National Diploma is a two year course specialising in computer hardware and networking.
Course Content:
6 core units - Communications, Computer Systems, Communication Technologies, Security, Principle of Networks and Network Management plus 10 specialist units including Technical Support and Computer Systems Maintenance.
There is an opportunity for additional study leading to the CompTIA A+, Network+ and Linux+ examined qualifications.
Learning Style:
This course runs for two years, full time.
Equipment Requirements:
There are no special equipment requirements.
Assessment:
You will be assessed through task based course work. Two units (Network Design and Administration and Network Project) are assessed via an externally set combined practical assignment.
Progression:
On successful completion of this course, you can progress on to University. Alternatively you may find employment in a range of organisations. You could work in IT support, or develop a career as a technician or custmer support officer

If you are under 19 at the start of the course, and studying a full time course, there are no tuition / exam fees. If you are over 19, you are liable for tuition / exam fees .
