BTEC First in Law and Legal Work
Course outline
Consists of 3 units
Unit 1: An introduction to the English Legal System
Unit 2: An introduction to police powers and procedures
Unit 4: Optional unit An introduction to criminal law and procedure
Teaching styles
Students will learn through a variety of teaching methods with teacher led lessons. Students will produce individual projects and assignments involving research which students will be expected to work on their own account. Homework is a regular feature.
Assessment
This course is 100% coursework. You must complete an assignment for each unit.

Studying Law at Regent College links well with English, Psychology, Business Studies and Humanities
Resources and facilities
You will be provided with a law book. Law is taught in a well resourced subject base with the most up to date materials and ICT facilities. The college has subscribed to E-lawstudent.com to assist student study.
Key feature
We hope to enrich your study by offering visits to the local courts, the law museum in Nottingham and the local prison. We will also be inviting speakers from a range of legal professions.

As part of a level 2 programme a minimum of 5 grade Ds at GCSE, or equivalent, including English Language
