Learning for Life and Work is a course for School Leavers from both Special and Mainstream Schools. It is aimed to meet the needs of learners with a wide range of abilities. What are the aims of the programme? The programme aims to provide support in the transition from child to adulthood. To learn to make independent choices. To develop independent living skills, Functional Skills, work related options and further training or employment where appropriate.

Course programme

This course offers up to four one-year programmes. Each of the one-year programmes offers exciting practical units with an emphasis on creative and sporting opportunities and includes Functional Skills to facilitate your progression through college towards independence. The four programmes are: Introduction to Learning for Living Learning for Living Award at entry levels 1 - 3 Learning for Living Certificate at entry levels 1 - 3 Learning for Living Diploma at entry levels 1 - 3 Each programme offers a wide range of subjects and you will have the opportunity to try a range of options which include; Functional Skills Sports/fitness Creative Skills Community Use Transport and Travel Meal Preparation and Planning Independent Living skills Personal and Social Development Horticulture Catering Practical Workshop skills Enterprise and Retail Volunteering Projects Personal presentation skills Work experience Tutorial Curriculum You will have a named tutor and key worker who will see you every day and help with your learning. They have regular contact with parents or carers.
