Level 2 Award for Working as a Security Officer within the Private Security Industry (QCF)

Under the Private Security Industry Authority Act 2001, all individuals wishing to work in the private security industry must undertake a recognised qualification before applying for a licence.

This regulated qualification has been developed to meet the requirements of the Security Industry Authority (SIA). It is based on the relevant SIA Specifications for Learning and Qualifications and provides the learner with the necessary knowledge and understanding for those who wish to apply for an SIA licence and work as a security guard within the private security industry.

The qualification comprises three mandatory units:

Unit 1 - Working within the Private Security Industry

Unit 2 - Working as a Security Officer within the Private Security Industry

Unit 3 - Conflict Management within the Private Security Industry

The minimum contact hours for this qualification are 18.5 hours of the required 28 guided learning hours. For full details of delivery requirements, please refer to the specification.

This qualification can enable the learner to progress onto the NVQ in Providing Security Services or undertake further learning in other areas of the private security industry such as CCTV operations or door supervision.
