This BTEC programme is delivered by former Special Branch and Royal Protection Officers and covers all of the core competences as specified by the SIA, including surveillance techniques, operational planning, threat assessment and relevant legislation. The detailed course syllabus is complemented by challenging training scenarios where the candidates are given the opportunity to participate in live VIP focussed foot and vehicle drills to develop the skills and knowledge to prepare them for the close protection field.
The course is delivered over 15 days and combines comprehensive classroom theory with realistic practical exercises. The core competencies are satisfied by the following modules:
