Load Retention

Van Hee provide Load Retention training for those persons involved in the use of goods vehicles. The training can take place using either the customers own equipment or our own training vehicles.

Course Contents
The course consists of theoretical and practical sessions with particular emphasis on hands on experience.

1. Health and Safety.

2. Inspection of the vehicle to be loaded.

3. Mounting and dismounting of vehicles safely.

4. Vehicle weight distribution and stability.

5. The checking of all load restraint systems i.e. ropes, sheets, ratchet straps, nets, bulkhead doors (freezers), curtains and any personalised items used within your operation.

6. Any necessary PPE required or recommended.

7. Inspection of the loading and unloading area(s).

8. Department of Transport regulations on vehicle loads.

Practical
Practical sessions will also be run using the client's equipment or our own equipment covering practical load retention on a variety of vehicles and with a variety of loads.

Testing
Continuous assessment will be made of candidates during the practical elements of the training which will lead to the demonstration of competence.
