Manned Guarding Qualification (Edexcel Level 2 BTEC Award in Security
Operations)
To gain a licence from the Security Industry
Authority, applicants will need to attend an approved training course,
attain a nationally recognised qualification and undergo identity and
criminal records checks.
To achieve the Edexcel qualification for
Manned Guards, you will need to attend a training course, take and pass
two assessments. The total training time will be 30 hours, which includes
two one-hour assessments.
Anyone involved in licensable sectors and who
works under contract will need to be licensed. This includes employees,
managers, supervisors and directors of security companies. Licensing does
not extend to those who are employed in-house.
Unit 1 -
Roles and Responsibilities
This includes how to comply with the
law, access control, searching, patrolling, security and emergency
systems, communications and reporting, fire safety, health and safety at
work, customer care and social skills and equality and diversity.
Course
duration: 22.5 hours
Unit 2 - Communications Skills & Conflict
Management
This includes avoiding conflict and reducing risk,
defusing conflict, resolving conflict and post-incident considerations and
learning from conflict
Course duration: 7.5 hours Total course
duration: 30 hours including two assessments
