Level Two This intensive one-year course aims to develop your knowledge and practical skills in mathematics. It will help you understand mathematical principles and apply them to everyday situations and to other subjects. This course is for those who feel ready to study in a more adult environment and have the self discipline and enthusiasm for their chosen subjects. This qualification is often required for progression to higher level courses, in particular university level courses, and also for some career paths. Please note: if you do not currently hold a GCSE Maths at grade C or above, then this course is FREE!

Course programme
Successful completion can lead to higher levels of education. It is also essential for entry into some vocational occupations and progression to university-level courses.
The course covers four fundamental areas of mathematics:
- Number - fractions, decimals and percentages; methods of 'pen & paper' calculation; ratio and proportion; and using a calculator
- Algebra - simplification of expressions; solving equations; and substitution and graphs
- Geometry and measures - angles; area, perimeter and volume; transformation of shapes; and Pythagoras' theorem
- Statistics - interpreting and drawing appropriate graphs and charts; measures of average; and understanding and using probability.
