The development of essential business skills and competencies are delivered in the context of the Music Industry. In addition to an academic approach, candidates will have the opportunity of gaining valuable, hands-on industry experience by managing one of the colleges 3 record labels: Electric Honey Records, GDANSK Recordings, ROOT8. This will allow for real training in A&R, event management, marketing and music publishing, finance, record companies. All candidates will be required to give a presentation (topic given in advance) before being interviewed.

By interview and presentation (see Course Description). Preferably 2 Highers (grade C pass minimum) 1 to include English, PLUS passes in 2 other subjects at Intermediate 2/Standard Grade Credit. Candidates must have good communication skills. Alternatively, an appropriate range of NQ units (or equivalence) or substantial relevant work experience will be considered.

Progression
Successful completion of the HNC will give articulation to the HND and then potential Progression to a Degree programme. A variety of opportunities exist for Degree level study, notably by continuing at Stow College for the third year of the Commercial Music degree (delivered jointly by Stow and UWS staff). Alternatively employment in many branches of the Music Industry.
