Course information:
NVQ Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations (Pipefitting & Welding)


Course summary:
This is a practical course which will develop engineering skills throughout workshop practice. It is suitable for anyone seeking a career in Engineering.
The course consists of six units of competence, including pipefitting and welding.

Course content:
There are six units:-
1. Comply with statutory regulations & organisational requirements.
2. Developing yourself and working with others on Engineering Activities.
3. Using and communicating technical information.
4. Using engineering materials.
5. Pipework Engineering.
6. Welding Engineering
Students will also need to study Key skills L2 : Communications, Application of number, IT, WWO and IOL.

Note: A Technical Certificate (C & G 6983) may also form part of this engineering award and will require attendance for a further day.

Assessment procedure:
Assessment is based on a portfolio of evidence that is developed throughout your practical work and job knowledge.

NVQ in Performing Engineering Operations

Progression opportunities:
Successful candidates can progress to employment in engineering or on to further education.

Most full-time students do not have to pay for their course. We may also be able to help you with some of the extra costs associated with college, eg travel, childcare, equipment, books etc. In addition, if you have just left school, you may be eligible for an Educational Maintenance Allowance.
