The VTCT Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing (QCF) provides learners with the necessary understanding and skills to work as an advanced hairdresser. Progression opportunities also exist in the form of specialist VTCT vocationally related qualifications at Levels 3 and 4.

The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing consists of a minimum of 58 credits and a minimum of 9 units. Each candidate must complete the 4 mandatory units and a minimum of 5 optional units. The total number of credits for the optional units selected must be at least 37 credits.

Mandatory units:
Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
Provide hairdressing consultation services
Creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques
Promote additional services or products to customers

Optional Groups

Optional Group A:
Colour hair using a variety of techniques
Provide colour correction services
Creatively style and dress hair
Creatively dress long hair
Develop and enhance creative hairdressing skills
Create a variety of permed effects
Provide creative hair extension services
Provide specialist consultation services for hair and scalp conditions
Provide hair and scalp treatments

Optional Group B:
Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business
Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities
Support customer service improvements
