Young Film Academy is the UK’s leading provider of practical filmmaking programmes to young people aged 8-18. Wherever we go, students are desperately keen to learn more about digital filmmaking and the possibilities it offers them for learning and creativity. Visual culture is now an integral part of their lives and new avenues for creativity are emerging all the time. Becoming conversant in digital imagery is now an important part of their education.

The One Day Film School gives a group of up to 75 students a chance to immerse themselves in filmmaking for a full day (for up to 100 students, please CONTACT us). The first stage of the programme offers pupils dynamic, hands-on workshops run by our award-winning trainers. The culmination of the day sees students working in teams to produce their own Ten Shot Films…all in time for a Film Festival and awards ceremony to end the day!

The day includes workshops on film history, screenwriting and camerawork, as well as fight choreography (always one to wake the students up!) The aim is to give students a day that is inspirational, dynamic, highly enjoyable and practically instructive.

Participating schools have found that the One Day Film School can provide benefit at the following times in the school calendar: early in the Autumn term - teambuilding for new intake or year groups, Arts weeks/festivals, recreation/educational weekend activity for boarders and as post-exam period activities.
