Health & Social Care Level 2 NVQ
At present the College offers this practically based course by the following modes of delivery:

• Part-time College attendance through 12 continuous group workshops, with assessment then taking place in the workplace following completion of these 12 weeks
.
• Delivery of the course and assessment in the workplace, in accordance with employers needs
. This flexible option is made by arrangement with the employer and student(s).

Course Content:
The course will provide the opportunities to:
• Gain evidence of the knowledge and principles of practice required for the achievement of NVQ Care level 2
.
• Provide guidance in the preparation for assessment and the submission of a portfolio of evidence of knowledge and practice
. It includes issues related to:
• Rights
• Responsibilities
• Communication
• Abuse
• Personal hygiene
• Eating and drinking
• Moving and handling
• Health and safety
• Physical changes
• Assisting with toileting needs

Awarding body:
West Kent College, College Certificate.

Entry Requirements:
As all assessment will take place in the workplace, students must be working in a social or health care setting. Acceptance onto the course is subject to a successful interview.

Entry Process:
Applicants will be invited to attend an interview with the course tutor.

Assessment:
Assessment of both practice and knowledge will take place in the workplace. Where there is no qualified in-house workplace assessor, the appointment of a peripatetic assessor will be provided. You will also be asked to submit a portfolio of evidence.
