Course programme
Preparation for MA is designed to prepare International Students applying for a UAL Postgraduate. Preparation for MA will be an ideal starting point for acclimatisation to London and the first steps on the road to personal inquiry. Candidates should be self-motivated, with a vision and voice that transcends conventional boundaries and who are seeking to develop their practice at a professional level within a research orientated context. Students will familiarise themselves with life in London during the six week course, participating in studio based projects and research trips to some of the capital's world famous museums and galleries.
Course Objectives:
To engage with aspects of Western culture and explore the academic rigour of an MA programme in the UK
To incubate independent and reflective practitioners and to prepare for practice led research
To develop lively, autonomous and reflective thinkers who have their own creative position on contemporary debates and society
To enhance critical and contextual thinking and widen professional and contextual knowledge
To explore visual strategies and approaches to research to improve creative learning experience
To encourage imaginative visual thinking and capitalise on London as a learning resource
To promote self-reflection and critical analysis as an integral part of the creative learning experience
To progress self-efficacy in the communication of ideas both verbal and written
Learning and Teaching Methods
With classes scheduled during the evenings and weekends, this course enables you to combine studying with employment or other commitments. Ideal for students participating in the UAL Pre-Sessional English Language courses. Independent study will be supported with access to a residential studio space for the duration of the course, where you will familiarise with the UAL study environment. Located in the heart of London you will benefit from access to the wealth of resources available within the cultural capital.

Entry Requirements
An offer to a UAL Undergraduate MA Course in Art & Design. Alternatively, you can make a direct application, by submitting a completed application form along with a digital portfolio of around 20 images of your work and a personal statement (maximum 50 words) outlining your educational qualifications and reasons for applying to this course, to
IELTS level 5.0 or above if English isn’t an applicant’s first language, with at least 4.0 in reading, writing, listening and speaking (please check our English Language requirements)
If you are from OUTSIDE the European Economic Area (EEA) you MUST present your passport and valid visa/proof of entry clearance to the Short Course office before the start of your course. Please note you will NOT be allowed to study, if do not present a valid visa/proof of entry clearance on the first day of the course.
