The Rugby Academy aims to maximise your potential as a rugby player, enhancing your personal, educational and vocational development. Regardless of which club you are playing for, you can study for a sports qualification at Stourbridge College’s Centre of Sporting Excellence and train throughout the week to develop your skill and fitness levels. You will be able to represent your club and our Academy and coaching staff will work closely with you and your club to maximise your development and potential. To study at the Rugby Academy you will need to apply on line and you will also need to take part in rugby trials as part of your application process.If you love sport and learning about how to improve your performance then this is the course for you. Building upon what you have learnt at school, this course will mix both the practical and theoretical aspects of sport and develop your understanding and knowledge across a range of subject areas. It will both challenge you and inspire you to learn more about how you can develop your own sporting performance and that of those around you. Throughout the course you will learn about how your body works and how your mind and thinking will affect your performance. You will also learn about how you can both train your body and test it to discover just how fit you actually are.

About this course

You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at grade C or above including English or maths alternatively you will have a level 2 Diploma with Merit or Distinction grade in sport. This course is offered as a subsidiary diploma, 90 credit diploma and extended diploma and you will be placed on the right level for you following your interview.

This course is 100% coursework - there will be no formal examinations. The course will use a range of methods including written reports, presentations, practical assessment, analysis and Group work.
