The course helps all the above to understand the role of the Safeguarding Children Board. The course sets a minimum standard for all those working with Children , young people and their families, it introduces a variety of topics that can impact upon and child, young persons health, safety, welfare or development. It also introduces safe systems of working through effective recording and report writing. Suitable for: A variety of workers and volunteers ranging from commitee members to leisuire centre staff. the course is suitable for all staff coming into contact wuith children and young people or their carers/families.

About this course
All candidates must hold a current Criminal Records Bureau certificate. must be able to stay for the duration of the course and be willing to participate in course activities Must clearly identify any learning requirements before attending. specifically in relation to materials that may be required to be produced in larger or differing fonts. Candidates will receive upon completion of the course a two sided certificate, the front cover states course title and date of completion, the reverse is for reflective practice purposes and supervision and also states the course aims and objectives.

Course programme
The course aims are to introduce candidates & new members of staff, to the world of Safeguarding and child protection.
It prepares candidates to recognise early signs and symptoms of possible problems and child abuse.
The course clearly defines the course of action candidates must take should the suspect or a child disclose abuse, identifying the the appropriate contacts, in compliance with Local Authority (LSCB) Safeguarding Children procedures.
To Increase candidates confidence in their role in safeguarding children.
To build networks of support, identifying partner agencies and key people within those agencies
